| With advances in medical care, more children are surviving previously fatal childhood diseases. As a result, a number of these pediatric patients with underlying illnesses are prone to thrombotic complications either due to the illness itself and/or as a consequence of their treatment including the use of central venous access devices. Pediatric thrombosis is increasingly recognized to be a complication in children and topics such as diagnosing and management of thrombosis in the pediatric population remain controversial. The session will serve to provide an opportunity for discussion in this area. Furthermore, thrombosis occurs in many organs and thus, involvement of trainees and junior faculty members in other subspecialties in thrombosis research is very important. This session can provide a forum to discuss opportunities with a Professor in Pediatrics with clinical and research expertise in thrombosis.
