| Target Audience: Target Audience: Academic Pediatricians and pediatricians in training interested in doing/teaching research with simulation education/technology |
| |
| Objectives:
- Knowledge to develop research that measures educational interventions effect on patient outcomes
- Skills to develop research protocol that balance research with education
- Attitudes to collaborate with other simulation programs on patient outcomes oriented research
- Skills to conduct the educational research project developed in this workshop |

| This workshop will provide the knowledge and skills to design, implement, and study the effect of educational interventions on patient outcomes. We will discuss the balance of research and education, methods of collaboration to evaluate uncommon patient outcomes and the use of training to document competency. Participants will work in groups, led by experienced educational researchers, to design educational research projects with measurable patient outcomes. At the end of the session groups will undergo a "review" of their projects. Participants homework will be to perform a pilot of their project when they return to their institution. Information will be provided on how to submit projects to the POISE Network to perform a larger study after demonstrating success locally. |
