Disclosures

2013 PAS Disclosure Submission Site

In accordance with requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), The Pediatric Academic Societies requires all individuals who are in a position to control the content of a CME activity to disclose all financial relationships with any commercial interest(s).
Benefits:

  • You are required to complete ONE disclosure for the 2013 PAS Annual Meeting that will encompass all your participation roles.

  • You can return to the disclosure site throughout the year to keep your disclosure up-to-date.

  • Abstract Co-Authors:  Save time in submitting your abstract by having all co-authors enter disclosure information directly into the disclosure site.  The contact author may then link to the co-authors disclosures using the co-authors name and email provided during the disclosure submission.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Tulane University Health Sciences Center and the Pediatric Academic Societies.  Tulane University Health Sciences Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Tulane University Health Sciences Center  and the Pediatric Academic Societies present this activity for educational purposes only and do not endorse any product, content of presentation, or exhibit. Participants are expected to utilize their own expertise and judgment while engaged in the practice of medicine. The content of the presentations is provided solely by presenters who have been selected because of their recognized expertise.

PAS programming is jointly sponsored with Tulane University Health Sciences Center. All educational activities are implemented in accordance with the ACCME Essential Areas and Elements, ACCME Policies, and ACCME Standards for Commercial Support to ensure balance, independence, objectivity and scientific rigor.

The Disclosure and COI Resolution Guidelines comply with the ACCME Standards of Commercial Support (SCS). The SCS describe six Standards: (1) independence (2) resolution of personal conflicts of interest (3) appropriate use of commercial support (4) appropriate management of associated commercial promotion (5) content and format without commercial bias and (6) disclosures relevant to potential commercial bias.  These updated Standards underscore continued voluntary self-regulation by the CME community, ensuring that physicians have opportunities to engage in commercially unbiased life-long learning facilitated by accredited providers.  The purpose of this policy is twofold:  [1] to establish guidelines and a mechanism for identifying and resolving conflicts of interest in CME educational activities as required in Standard 2 of the PAS/Tulane CCE Policy and Procedures for Identifying and Resolving Conflicts of Interest (COI), and [2] to be consistent with Tulane University’s institutional policy for resolving conflicts of commitment and interest.  Regardless of role, disclosure forms for Tulane faculty and staff participating in a CME activity will be forwarded to the university’s COI committee for review. Any real or apparent conflicts of interest related to the content of the presentation must be resolved prior to participation and/or presentation.

To ensure that the content of your presentation/participation promotes improvements or quality in healthcare and avoids evidence of commercial bias, we ask you to follow the PAS/Tulane CCE Policy and Procedure for Identifying and Resolving Conflicts of Interest (COI) - (http://www.pas-meeting.org/2013DC/CME/Tulane Disclosure and COI Policy 2011 v2_approved 6-5-ME.pdf). Please pay special attention to the definitions of terms in assessing your disclosure.  Please click here for examples.

Disclosure information will be compiled by the PAS and accessible by all attendees during the meeting. Presenters are required to convey to the audience all disclosures and/or unapproved or off-label discussions disclosure information.  Additionally, the audience will be informed by the following method(s):

  • Verbal announcement from the podium at the beginning of the presentation

  • Noted on a presentation slide and displayed at the beginning of the presentation

  • Visible notation on poster presentation immediately following the poster title and authors
