A MESSAGE FROM THE SOCIETIES

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

San Francisco will host our 1999 meeting, May 1 – 4 at the Moscone Convention Center, and the San Francisco Hilton will serve as our Headquarter Hotel. We have organized an innovative and exciting program we hope you will find scientifically invigorating.

We strongly encourage you to plan ahead this year. San Francisco is a popular place! Make your airline and housing reservations as soon as possible. Also, take advantage of our "early bird" meeting registration fee, which offers substantial savings if you register for the meeting by March 5, 1999.

Take a few moments to review the program highlights outlined in this brochure. You will find Saturday, May 1, offers special Educational Seminars and Mini Courses that provide useful information and practical advice for both the clinician and the academician. Plan to stay through Tuesday, May 4, and catch the controversy of Hot... Hot...Hot... Topics presented in an open, interactive format. And, of course, throughout the entire 4 day program outstanding basic and clinical research will be presented in thousands of abstracts, as well as in State of the Art and Topic Symposia, workshops and special interest groups.

San Francisco is a wonderful city to visit! It offers thousands of superb restaurants, offering traditional, ethnic, and family dining. Traditional site-seeing venues include the Golden Gate Bridge, the Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the Golden Gate Park (not near the Golden Gate Bridge) which is a 1,000 acre park that includes the wonderful California Academy of Sciences Aquarium, Planetarium and Museum, as well as visiting historic Alcatraz (reserve tickets early, if you can), the San Francisco Zoo, or the serene Muir Woods Redwood Forest.

We hope to see you in San Francisco!!

Sincerely,

Michael M. Kaback, M.D.
