PAS Workshop Chair-elect Roles & Responsibilities:
Term: July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026
- Chairs the PAS Workshop Committee, a subgroup of the PAS Program Committee; provides oversight of the workshop submission, review, and selection process; analyzes feedback and identifies opportunities for program refinement
- Reviews final PAS Workshop selections with PAS Program Chair; adjudicates any selection adjustments to reduce overlap or to coordinate with other elements of the program, if needed
- Meets regularly with PAS Staff; advises on Workshop-related process improvement
- Prepares annual letters of commendation/thanks for Workshop Committee members
- Works with the Chair-elect during year three to ensure a smooth transition of the Chair’s responsibilities
- During the Chair-elect year works with the Chair to learn the workshop selection process
- Serves as a voting member of the PAS Program Committee Leadership Team (PCLT); the Chair-elect serves as ex officio PCLT member
PAS Workshop Chair Applicant Qualifications:
• Have experience or expertise as a medical educator, specifically in faculty development, conference workshop leadership, conference leadership, curriculum development, etc.
• Be a member in good standing of a PAS partner or alliance organization (AAP, APA, APS, SPR, and ASPN, PIDS)
• Be able to attend the PAS 2024-2026 Meetings in Toronto, Honolulu, and Boston, respectively.
• Submit a completed PAS Workshop Chair Application with:
1. Name, Title, Institution, Contact Information, Educational background
2. Gender, Race, Ethnicity
3. Evidence of support for or expertise in DEI initiatives
4. Reason for interest in the Workshop Chair position
5. Vision for PAS Workshops
6. Description of relevant prior experience/expertise with Workshops at PAS or similar medical/scientific conferences and qualifications or expertise as a medical educator, specifically in faculty or curriculum development
7. CV with relevant activities highlighted
