2027 ABSTRACTS – PAS Meeting

ABSTRACT FEE: $100

This non-refundable fee is required for each submission, payable by credit card ONLY. This fee does not apply to your PAS registration if your abstract is accepted.

ABSTRACT PRESENTATION FORMATS

Platform or Poster are determined in January 2027 by the PAS Program Committee.

Platform sessions are 90 minutes long. Presentations are 15 minutes (10 minutes/presentation; 5 minutes/discussion).
Poster sessions are two to three hours long and consist of a general viewing and author attendance period.
Detailed instructions for the preparation of slides and posters, as well as scheduling notices, will be provided to the contact author with the presentation notification.
The complete schedule of all abstract presentations will be finalized in early 2027.

What Types of Abstracts Can & Cannot be Submitted

WHAT TYPES OF ABSTRACTS CAN AND CANNOT BE SUBMITTED?

CAN BE SUBMITTED?

IRB status should be mentioned for most submissions (Exempt from IRB are QI and most large dataset analyses, especially public data sets)
Literature Reviews – Yes, but standards for LR’s must be followed.
QI Projects – Yes, but standards for QI must be followed.
Case Series – A case series is acceptable for submission.
Previously Presented Abstract (Encore abstracts) – Yes, Abstracts submitted and/or presented at other Societies’ or national meetings within the 12 months prior to the PAS Meeting may be submitted to the PAS Meeting for consideration. Abstracts presented at the last PAS Meeting may not be submitted
Industry/Commercial Connection – Limited exceptions exist only when the content of the presentation is unrelated to their employer, when the activity focuses solely on basic science or research methods without care recommendations, or when they participate strictly as device‑use technicians who teach safe operation without advising on clinical use. This information should be disclosed in the author’s COI disclosure.

CANNOT BE SUBMITTED

Case Studies – No, single case reports may not be submitted.
Case Report – No, a single case report may not be submitted.
Narrative data – No, it cannot be submitted.
Industry/Commercial Connections – Owners or employees of ineligible companies, such as industry sponsors, cannot serve as planners, faculty, or influence any part of accredited continuing education.

Spanish Speaking Abstracts

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT IN SPANISH?

Spanish speakers will have the option to submit in Spanish during the PAS Abstract submission process. Accepted Abstracts will be presented in Spanish during the PAS 2027 Meeting

Note: If you submit your abstract in Spanish, it will be reviewed by Spanish speakers. If accepted, your presentation will not be part of your topic area’s oral or poster session. Instead, your presentation will be in a mixed-topic oral or poster session and presented in Spanish.

Trainee Ongoing Project (TOP) Posters

TRAINEE ONGOING PROJECT (TOP) POSTERS

Call for Trainee Ongoing Projects (TOP) Poster: August 12 – November 2, 2026 | 11:59 PM CT
Notification sent by email: January 19, 2027.

Trainee Ongoing Projects (TOP) Posters are submitted through a separate submission site from the PAS Abstract Submission Site. Submissions made through the incorrect site will not be accepted for presentation at PAS.

ELIGIBILITY

A physician trainee who is currently enrolled in a residency or fellowship program must be the presenting/first author and must be the submitter. Medical students and non-physician trainees are not eligible.
Data collection for analysis must be complete at the time of submission.
Data analysis/results are incomplete as of November 2, 2026 submission date, but will be complete by February 1, 2027.*
Trainee mentor must be a co-author for submission.
The project must be IRB approved or exempt with a statement to that effect. IRB pending will not be accepted.
Your submission must include a completed Background, Objective, Design/Methods.

Note: We do not collect final data analysis/results nor is it included in the Online Program Guide

Data analysis for pilot projects with a small sample size or preliminary results is acceptable.
IRB status should be mentioned.
Literature Reviews – Yes, appropriate literature review standards must be followed. (i.e. – https://www.prisma-statement.org/)
QI Projects – Yes, SQUIRE standards for QI must be followed. (https://www.squire-statement.org/)
Previously Presented Abstract – Yes, abstracts submitted and/or presented at other meetings within the 12 months prior to the PAS Meeting may be submitted to the PAS Meeting for consideration.

CANNOT BE SUBMITTED?

Completed studies – should be submitted via typical PAS abstract site.
Case Report – No, a single case report may not be submitted. Note: A case series is acceptable for submission.
Narrative review – No, it cannot be submitted.
QI Projects that are only impactful to the local institution and do not represent novel implementation or goals.
Abstracts presented at the last PAS Meeting – No, may not be submitted.
Industry/Commercial Connections – Owners or employees of ineligible companies, such as industry sponsors, cannot serve as planners, faculty, or influence any part of accredited continuing education.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHILE SUBMITTING:

Abstracts: Only the Presenting Author may submit.
Before a submission can be submitted, all authors/co-authors must complete the following two tasks.

Per CME guidelines, additional co-authors cannot be added after submission. You MUST include all of your co-authors when submitting.
All accepted oral abstracts are required to pre-record prior to the PAS Meeting. Presenting authors will also be expected to attend and present in person in Minneapolis.

CITATION OF ABSTRACTS

Abstracts are published in electronic format only. For purposes of citation, please use the E-PAS2027:Publication number.

MANUSCRIPT PUBLICATIONS

Research published in manuscript form prior to the submission of the abstract is not appropriate and should not be submitted. Abstracts that describe work that has been submitted as a manuscript or is a manuscript in revision may be submitted. Authors do not need to take any action if they receive notification of acceptance for publication following submission to PAS.

PAS TRAINEE TRAVEL GRANT PROGRAM

The Pediatric Academic Societies will award trainee travel grants that include free registration and a $500 check to participate in the PAS 2027 Meeting. Indicate your interest in the abstract submission site when applying for awards. For Abstract Submissions Only, does not pertain to Trainee Ongoing Projects (TOP). Awardees will be selected based on the quality of their submitted PAS abstract; the presenting author must be a trainee. Awardee notifications will be sent in mid-January 2027.
